Lynton House Reviews

Catherine
Lovely house, well equipped and with plenty of space.
Heasther
Lynton House is spacious, modern, and well maintained. Our three adult children each had a bedroom sharing the bathroom & we had the en suite bedroom. Showers in both places were good. Another review I found helpful said a family of 8, mostly adults, felt the house was spacious and comfortable with which we agree. There are two lounges, an eat in kitchen with doors out to an outdoor table for al fresco eating and a separate dining room. Also a separate utility room. Im copying the review I found helpful as the description is accurate. There is a main garden and patio area to the front of the house, and two smaller gardens to the side an rear. In addition to the TV, the house is well stocked with games and books. A 5 minute walk from the house there is a nice playground for children. The house is on the edge of Ruardean Hill we did not hear a sound from any of the neighbours it was so peaceful and tranquil. The entrance to the house faces open space and this adds to the privacy of the house. The house is located within the Forest of Dean, and there are many walks that can be done from the house, or with a short drive. We would happily recommend Lynton House to future guests
We had a great time. Lovely cottage great location well equipped with everything you need. Nice and peaceful. Close to the forest for walks and for visiting many of the local attractions also for children a well kept playing park just up the road. Perfect Regards Ian and Claire
The property was cold on arrival and remained cold that evening. One small electric fire was inadequate. It was lovely and warm the following day and for the rest of our stay. It was a lovely location. The forest of Dean is well worth a visit. It was a very nice house for our short family holiday.

Wonderful location very close to forest. Well appointed cottage with lots of room and facilities. Owners very friendly and helpful. Amazing views from garden.
We had a lovely week here meeting up with family in the Forest of Dean. The owner met us when we had settled in and gave us a helpful safety talk and general information about the area. We visited Cheltenham, Raglan Castle, Hereford Cathedral with its ancient artefacts, Brockhampton National Trust and walks nearby. The house was well kept and quiet which is partly why we chose it. We would recommend it to future guests.

We had a wonderful week in the forest of dean! The cottage was spacious, comfortable and very good value for money! Elaine and Roger were very welcoming. We had a problem with one of the radiators and they arranged for it to be fixed straight away. The location was perfect for visiting many of the attractions on offer. We enjoyed Perrygrove steam train, Puzzlewood, Beechenhurst walking trails and visitors centre, Hopewell Colliery, Clearwell Caves. We also went on a great walk directly from the house which we found in a book of walks in the comprehensive information provided!. On a rainy day we went to the cinema in Cinderford which was like stepping back in time! We also made use of the puzzles & games! Great takeaways and pubs just a short drive away. Thank you Elaine and Roger
Alexander
Absolutely fantastic property, we actually thought that the photos didnt do this beautiful house justice. Loads of space, super friendly hosts and great location! Thank you for letting us stay with you and we hope to be back in the future!
Samantha
We had a lovely time, the house was exactly what we expected from the listing, lots of space, very comfortable and had everything we needed. Good location for the cycle centre. We would definitely recommend!
A lovely spacious house, very comfortable.
Solomon
Fantastic holiday cottage, family friendly, spacious and very comfortable. Many Thanks to the lovely hostess Elaine. We look forward to be back soon!
A lovely cottage in the Forest of Dean close to many attractions. Elaine greeted us with a very warm welcome on our arrival. The photos on Sykes website don't do it justice with the property having more space than shown and easily accommodated us, a group of 7 adults without being on top of each other. The TV room has 2 2seater sofas and the other living room has a larger sofa and 2 armchairs with the dining room off of it. This has a bigger table suitable for playing board games whilst we used the kitchen diner for our meals, a great space to socialise whilst cooking. The patio is just outside the kitchen diner and it was great to sit out on occasion when the weather was dry.
Very comfortable, well equipped and maintained.
Went away with a few friends to celebrate a 30th and NYE. Had a great time the photos don't do this house justice, it's really lovely and was even decorated for Christmas. So comfortable, warm and well equipped. Thank you for a wonderful stay x
Roslyn
Lovely house, great location for exploring. Comfortable, clean and everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the games that were there. I would definitely recommend this property to friends if they were going to explore the area. Owners were great, really helpful.
Lovely holiday home generous accommodation and perfect location. . Beautiful views and so much to do all around.
Dominic
Great house, lovely host.
Jackie
A wonderful holiday home in the perfect position to explore the Forest of Dean. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Jerome
Lovely place and a lovely holiday
Amanda
The property was much bigger than the photos made it looked. Great outside space. The owner Elaine was very obliging and made us feel very comfortable and welcome!
This is a lovely house in a great location. Everything we needed to feel at home. Plenty of room for us all. Our granddaughter loved playing in the garden. Personally, we would prefer larger and maybe thicker bath towels. We chose to sleep in the bedroom with en suite but on hindsight might not have been the best choice as there wasnt enough storage space for us but to be fair, we dont travel lightly! The other members of the party had more than enough space though. The other issue was no coffee machine, but overcame that by bringing our own. Would definitely stay here again though.
Claire
Fantastic hosts, fantastic house, fantastic location, holiday was fantastic.
Really lovely house, very well equipped. The owners were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Lovely garden for children to play in . Just a few minutes walk from the forest. Saw wild boar and lots of birds.
Valerie
Fabulous cottage centrally situated for the Forest of Dean. Didnt want to leave, always a sign of a good holiday.
We had a fantastic break at Lynton House! We had a lovely welcome from the owner and a nice bottle of wine! We went as a group of 3 friends for a relaxing weekend of walking, fresh air, nice food and a catch up in the chaos of 2020. The cottages was great ideal for a group of friends or a couple of families to meet. There are 2 lounge areas and a nice, cosy dining section at the back. The kitchen diner was great for chatting while cooking and breakfast. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfy beds and bedding. Access to walks and bike rides in the Forest of Dean is right on the doorstep, so it's great for getting outside. A really lovely break, thank you!

We were all very happy with Lynton House it was very spacious and exactly what we expected from reading the literature ideal for 8 people and a 7 month old baby. Elaine and Roger made us feel very welcome and gave us a few pointers on the house and area.
Lovely, spacious accommodation and very friendly hosts. The house was very conveniently situated for all activities in the Forest of Dean, and there were good walks from the house. An amazing variety of games for wet days were available.
Christopher
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage with a large garden. The children loved playing hide and seek as the garden was in sections around three sides of the house. We also took an early evening walk into the adjacent forest and saw for the first time a family of wild boar.
A beautiful cottage ideal for a family holiday with easy access to all the amenities of the forest
Leonard

Ireland
Cottage was lovely and homely. We were 3 families under one roof and didn't feel cramped. Only wish we could have stayed longer than a weekend.
We had a great time, the house was lovely and we'll equipped with board games. There was lots of helpful information on the local area. The cottage was homely and comfortable with lovely views. Our only very small suggestion would be to provide some larger towels, dishwasher tablets and to cut back the foliage on the path to the house as we struggled to get bags in and out without getting wet from the hedges. These are minor points as our stay was delightful, thank you.
Fabulous cottage, lovely location, topped by brilliant weather. Had a really relaxing break with everything you could need from a holiday cottage. Bottle of bubbles so thoughtful for my birthday weekend with friends. Would definitely recommend the cottage and will definitely return.
Michelle
Great spacious house with everything we needed 4adults and 4 children. Plenty of activities and places to go locally and more all within an hour. Fabulous childrens park a short walk away too.
Good location with garden to three sides, therefore plenty of space for the grandchildren to run around. The house was very comfortable and we used every room.
Phillip
On arrival the front garden was lit up with Christmas lights. A very warm welcome. Once inside the house was also decorated very nicely with Christmas decs. This was a big bonus as we were having a family Christmas get together. The space in the house was perfectthe kids loved playing hide and seek. The kitchen area is a fantastic place to socialise and enjoy looking out onto the garden. You can find everything you need in the kitchen this really was a home from home very well equipped cottage I would definitely recommend staying here.we hope to book again in the summer.
Nicola
Lovely property. We stayed with friends so there were 4 adults and 4 children. Lots of space both upstairs and downstairs and a lovely welcome from Elaine!
A warm welcome from Elaine with lovely gifts,. 2 reception rooms were so useful for us and the local area was beautiful
Wonderful cottage in a lovely location. The photos really dont do this beautiful house justice. We have just come back from spending a week here and loved every second. The house is very spacious and homely, with lots of thought going into the comfort of the guests, it has a beautiful garden which again has lots of space. We were 2 families staying together and never once felt like we were tripping over each other. There is a fantastic selection of books and board games if like us you end up spending a very rainy day indoors and theres plenty to do if you are happy to drive away from the location. There isnt much to do in the village itself but we found lots of things locally and further afield to keep the children entertained. All in all a fantastic location for a lovely holiday, we would highly recommend this cottage to anyone considering the Forest of Dean for their getaway
