Dolphin House Reviews

Catherine
We really enjoyed our week at Dolphin House. We thought that the house was very well equipped and appreciated all the space on offer for a party of 6 adults and a baby plus all his equipment! I would say that the kitchen was the best equipped of all the properties we have rented in recent years. We also loved all the games and books available for us to use. The only slight drawback is the road noise heard in the front first floor bedroom but we appreciate there is nothing the owners can do about that. Thank you
We found the property to be clean, spacious, warm, comfortable, well furnished and very well equipped. The only reason for not giving it a perfect score is the limited, slightly difficult to use parking. Although street parking is free it was under a lot of pressure at the time of our visit and it wasnt always easy to park near the property.

This really Is a lovely cottage. Pretty much everything is spot on. Warm and cosy all through the house. Well appointed kitchen. Really good sized sitting room. Great location in Burford. Only downside is low ceilings which proved painful on occasion.
Very comfortable, clean and well cared for property in a great location.
Jacqui
We had the most wonderful stay. Dolphin House felt so homely and was very comfortable situated in the fantastic Burford. We loved it and hope to be back.
Stuart
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was lovely and warm, we enjoyed the fire. The Christmas decorations were very tasteful and our two year old granddaughter loved the Christmas tree. Perfect for a family Christmas and I am sure it is equally enjoyable in the Summer with the conservatory and garden. The kitchen was very well equipped for guests who enjoy cooking. Sharp knives essential Perfect location in a beautiful town.
Kathleen
An excellent cottage which was clean, well equipped and in a great location to enjoy the many cafes, pubs, shops and attractions in beautiful Burford and the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
The property was absolutely amazing and was a dream in every way possible. The living space with fireplace, kitchen, conservatory and bedrooms were all incredible clean and welcoming. It was also in a great spot within Burford. At the top of the high street and near to all the shops, coffee bars and pubs but was peaceful and quiet at nightime. I would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting the area. The bonus for us is they accept pets so our dog thoroughly enjoyed it too.
Charlotte
Wonderful house situated in the heart of Burford. It was cosy, immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. Our only issue was the fact that the dogs pictured and in photos were not available for a cuddle
Robert
Low doorways were an issue for some party members. Parking arrangements could be clearer on the listing, they were clear in the property handbook. More mugs would be useful.
Overall a great rental property with character, good facilities and excellent location. Only complaint is that it was short on mugs and glasses. Only 6 mugs and 8 water glasses meant constant washing up. Could also do with a teapot
Carole
A beautiful property with everything needed for a Christmas family get together. Decorations and tree were perfect. The only thing that would have enhanced the stay is having an extra set of keys. Sometimes, it's more convenient to come in through the front door and not have to go round the back to the key safe. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dolphin House.
This is a wonderful house, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Very well equipped kitchen, loved having tea towels, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid there for us. Also tea and coffee and a super welcome pack of goodies! Thank you! Information on website needs to be updated, we arrived at 4pm as per instructions and cleaning staff were expecting us at 5pm. Also the garage is available to use and there is space for two small cars which would have been worth knowing beforehand. Apart from these small issues it was perfect.
Dolphin house is so well situated as a base for the surrounding area, and is in a lovely town. The furnishings, bedding, and kitchen equipment etc, are a very high standard, and the cottage was very comfortable. Being on the main high St of Burford, local shops were most convenient, and quite a few excellent pubs with good food.
Jackie
Very comfortable well equipped house. Great location. Do think the dining room chairs are a little low for the height of the table.
We loved Dolphin House. We were a group of 8 four couples who gathered for 5 days over New Years. We were without cars, so the location in Burford was unbeatable we could walk to myriad restaurants, stores, and local scenery. The house is in terrific shape, is beautifully decorated and maintained, and provides a very pleasant stay. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking though there were a few additional items we would have appreciated, such as a drip coffee maker there is a Nespresso for making one cup at a time, and many supplies were extremely limited in quantity dishwasher detergent, bin and recycle bags, which required us to purchase more. While a number of reviews mention street noise, we really didn't notice! Skyes was reasonably good particularly over the holiday about responding to a few maintenance issues the front door lock was sufficiently sticky that there was one night we couldn't get into the house, they offered a small refund for a nonworking fireplace, etc.
A beautiful house very comfortable and well equipped. In a great location . Thanks for a great stay
Great property & great location. The house had everything we needed, including towels, kitchen appliances & board games. The house was very cosy & a great size. The conservatory part was a little dirty, however the rest of the house was very clean. The front door is very stiff so would have been helpful to know the trick to get in. However, overall lovely house & would stay again! Thank you
Fabulous house in a wonderful town. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The house has everything you need and more. Perfect for a family with 2 grown up girls. There are 3 bathrooms all are super. Walks from the house are delightful Pubs in the town and surrounding areas are very welcoming with great beers, wines and food
Stephen
Wonderful stay thank you
Beautiful cottage in a great position. We all felt that the in and out times were unfortunate and certainly differed from other companies we have used. There was no welcome pack so the note saying there would be one should have been removed. There was a distinct smell of drains which unfortunately prevented us from using the conservatory. Expecting guests to strip their beds is going a little too far, however despite these negative details we all felt we would return.

Dolphin House is a beautiful property all finished to a very high standard. The cottage has ample space and the photos dont do it justice in that sense it fits a group of 8 very comfortably. They provided lovely welcoming touches such as a fresh cake from a local bakery, milk and coffee. The location is amazing, right in the centre of Burford access to all the shops and restaurants on your doorstep. We loved our stay and are very much looking forward to returning.
Lovely house, beautifully designed, cared for and presented, great location made just the right environment for a family gettogether.
Not really. As it is located on the main road it is very noisy but that is not unexpected. On the other hand, at the time of a fuel shortage it was handy being that close to the High Street. Just one thing It is a bit ridiculous not being able to find the cutlery!
What a surprise. The photos do not do this house justice. It was such a beautiful home to come back to after a day of walking and wandering along the high St. Only downside is the traffic noise that is there all the hours of day and night.
Dolphin House was a super comfortable home from home. Tastefully furnished, well equipped. Burford is beautiful. We would very likely stay here again.
Louise
We had a wonderful week at Dolphin Cottage, we all loved it and wouldnt hesitate on returning in the future.

In many respects the property has met our expectations. However, a number of problems needed attention, which meant it was not been all we wished for or might reasonably have expected. On arrival there was an offensive drain smell from one of the 1st floor bathrooms. We found there was no coffee pot or teapot provided. Action from the management company remedied these problems the following day. First one, then both ovens ceased to operate between the third and fifth days of our stay. After a visit from an engineer arranged by the management company we had one oven which intermittently worked and then stopped altogether. This affected our ability to cater as we had planned. On the fourth day of our stay the kitchen tap unit came apart, leaking water when used and requiring a plumber to visit and repair it. I do not think it it reasonable to have encountered so many separate problems in a property marketed at this price point and by a company of your reputation. These issues were raised with Sykes in emails on 15th June and 22nd June. No reply has been received as of 1st July

The communication from you regarding the booking made everything really easy. Everything in the cottage was beautiful and the homemade cake was a lovely touch We couldnt fault anything and everyone raved about the decor and the comfortable beds We loved it all and will use your company again for sure
We have now had several holidays with Sykes and they are now my first port of call for holiday cottages. How we were contacted and dealt with during lockdown was exceptional and they made everything very easy. The cottage was superb beautifully appointed and we all had a much needed break away from life's stresses. We cook a lot on holiday and the kitchen was very well equipped. All in all superb. Thank you x
Pamela
We had a lovely time in Dolphin House. It was the perfect house for our family and the facilities were of excellent quality. We booked it relatively late and it actually wasn't my first choice but how glad I am that we did. I would return without hesitation.
We loved the cottage. It is very well equipped, nicely furnished and in a great location.
Amanda
Perfect house in a perfect location. Was very well stocked with everything we needed so much so that we even managed to cook and serve a full Christmas diner here. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Lots of lovely homely touches throughout the house, felt more like a home than a holiday let. Top quality property.
