Well Cottage Reviews

Daniel
Our preChristmas stay at Well Cottage in BourtonontheWater was nothing short of magical. With just a fiveminute walk from the village centre, the cottage offers the perfect balance of quiet and proximity close enough to wander down for early morning coffee or scones to bring back with you. December brought a special kind of enchantment, the floating Christmas tree shimmering on the River Windrush felt wonderful, and returning to the warmth of Well Cottage, with its full height Christmas tree in the main living space, made the experience even more memorable. The cottage itself is wonderfully cosy and welcoming exactly what you hope for in a Cotswolds retreat with that comforting sense of being at home from the moment you arrive. One of the true highlights were my morning walks to Lower Slaughter. Setting off straight from the door, following paths through fields and along the river, felt amazing. Well Cottage also makes an ideal base for exploring the wider Cotswolds. We loved the easy drives to StowontheWold, Chipping Campden, and Broadway, each offering its own character antique shops, honeycoloured streets, views, tea rooms and that old world Cotswold charm. Altogether, Well Cottage delivered a stay that felt warm, peaceful, and quite special indeed. As a preChristmas escape, it was everything wed hoped for, and more a place that invites the joy and appreciation of being immersed in one of Englands most beautiful landscapes. Highly recommend a stay at Well Cottage.

A beautiful property in a prime location
Lovely, well equipped property just a short walk from Bourtononthe Water's shops, pubs and cafes. Parking for three cars, generous garden perfect for our dog comfortable beds, hotel quality bathrooms. What more could you ask for.
We've had an amazing week at this beautiful cottage. So spacious and beds are so comfortable. Close to village which is stunning. Welcome pack was a lovely touch thank u so much
Cottage is beatuiful. Large garden with fruit trees was a lovely added bonus. Within easy walking distance of all local amenities plus great for walking to upperlower slaughter.
We loved the cottage, the gardens were beautiful and the location perfect. We would love to stay again in the future.
Excellent cottage, very well equipped, close to village centre and large supermarket.
Excellent property in a terrific situation. Clean and well presented with the equipment required for catering and relaxing. Beautiful garden. Would highly recommend.
A lovely cottage in a perfect location for walking out, both into Bourton On the Water and the local countryside. The cottage was perfect for our break as a family with grandparents. Great space inside and lovely garden. Very comfy beds.
One of the best cottages weve stayed at. Great place for 4 generations to spend a wonderful NYE.
Third stay in this warm , comfortable cottage that enabled all families to meet up enjoy early Christmas. Left the car as easy walk into the village with plenty of places to visit. Loved the comfortable beds with quality bedding powerful showers. Would love to stay again.

The fact that a toilet and a wash hand basin was classed as a bathroom was totally misleading but I'm happy to see that this has now been rectified on the website. The mattress in the fourth single walk through bedroom was totally unsuitable for an adult to sleep on and we had to use one of the mattresses from one of the double rooms. Though the kitchen was adequently supplied it could do with a few more basics ie milk and water jugs and a set of water glasses for the table rather than plastic ones. If these small points were addressed the cottage would be outstanding.
A few comments Garden needs a bit of tlc and fences front and back need replacing or mending. Photo on advert for Well Cottage is not truly representative of the actual condition. Patio needs cleaning Problem with shower in front bedroom and shower over the bath was disappointing and note many comments in guest book about this problem. May by the side door brought more dirt in needs replacing. Small bedroom not good with no natural light and did not work for our party. Vacuum was broken and difficult to use Its a beautiful house in great location but it just needs a bit of tlc

We loved our stay here. The house is lovely and was spotless. It was one of our first holidays with our toddler and having a big, safe garden for her to run around in and being so close to the village and the ducks made our stay brilliant. We had plenty of spacebathrooms in the house for a family holiday. I can't recommend this property enough if you're looking at it book it!!
Had a lovely time and enjoyed everything about this cottage and the village !
A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Very comfortable and very well equipped. The only one niggle we had was the patio area this needed clearing and cleaning. Other than that we had a wonderful week and fabulous heatwave!
The cottage was wonderful and the location perfect.
We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely cottage, great location. There was however a couple of problems, front bedroom on suite shower can be very hot almost scalding, I suggest you do not adjust it, after getting temperature right it was fine. End of the garden needs more security for our four legged friends, my schnauzer managed to get out twice. Love the Cotswolds
Thomas
Great property, great location. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lovely cottage within easy reach of the busy village centre an easy 5 min walk. Great location for lots of walks and pubs. Property was really clean and well equipped. Nice to have a few goodies to enjoy on our arrival.
Katherine
Our second visit to the cottage, such a lovely high quality property. The garden was fantastic for our children as was the games which were left and the Xbox, a real family friendly property. Being so close to the centre of Bourton was brilliant, a short stroll down the road and you are there. The kitchen is well stocked and the welcome hamper a lovely touch. Would really recommend this property.
We had a wonderful time staying at Well Cottage. Its just a 5 minute walk into the village with all its amenities and attractions and only 2 minutes walk to the supermarket. The cottage itself is very spacious and well equipped. There is a single bedroom which you walk through to get to one of the double rooms, with an ensuite, which proved ideal for our baby with parents next door. Then there are 2 further double rooms, one with a lovely ensuite the other with use of a separate bathroom. All the double rooms were set up with super king size beds I.e. none as a twin as in the photos this suited us fine but I think you'd need to make it clear if you needed twin rooms. The beds were comfy and the showers and baths powerful. With 2 lounges it meant the generations could do their own thing. The garden is large and fully enclosed, our dog loved playing catch before heading out on a walk. Also included in the cottage were thoughtful touches. A selection of goodies in the fridge, plus tea and coffee. Hand towels in all the bathrooms and tea towels. There's a tap and short hose pipe outside for washing the dog and muddy boots. Would highly recommend. Probably the best holiday cottage we've ever stayed in!

Absolutely fabulous cottage to book. Everything you need for a good holiday, a real home from home. Walking distance from the village which has a good Indian and Fish and Chip restaurant if you don't fancy cooking. A huge garden for our dog but also great for children if you took them. Also friendly neighbours who we met one morning. Six of us plus a well behaved beagle stayed for a week and it was great. A good location to see all of the Cotswold close to Glouscester to visit the Cathedral. Fabulous shopping in Cirencester lots of little boutique shops if you like a bit of shopping. I would highly recommend.
Deborah
We spent Christmas 2023 in the cottage and had a great time. Property was exactly as the description mentions. Very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to feel like home from home. Situated in the heart of Bourton where we were able to walk to all amenities. Highly recommend.
We loved this house. Perfect for our family get together, and space to safely run our small dog. The facilities were spot on, rooms really comfortable and spotless. Shop close by, and easy walk into the village for coffee shops etc.. Could not fault it
Carolyn
Wonderful cottage and this was our second visit. I was so impressed that you had added long mirrors in each bedroom after my comment last year. A couple more dishwasher tablets and some washing powder would have been very helpful. Wonderfully comfortable beds. Very sad to see the huge rise in price for next November I was about to rebook until I saw the increase.
Jackie
Gorgeous cottage worked well for us as a group of friends who live in different parts of the country. Good parking for 3 cars, great location close to town. Spotlessly clean and well equipped, although I had requested twin beds and even phoned sykes 3 days before to check, the beds were made up as doubles, lovely lady came to sort out.
Barbara
We absolutely loved the accommodation, it was perfect for us all. Really lovely back garden with storage for our bikes which we used a lot whilst there. We had the bathroom with the roll top bath and having not had a bath for several years due to removing and installing a shower it was a lovely end to busy days running, cycling and walking. Perfect location to get everywhere we wanted to including Clarksons Farm a 26 mile cycle ride with a pint of Hawkstones cider at the farm. Would highly recommend the cottage and the beautiful area. Thank you.
Lovely House nice and spacious loved the decor top notch very comfortable stay the garden was beautiful ideal for our little dog to run around safely. The only thing we would of liked more wardrobe space for sure there was not enough hangers in the rooms hence went and got our own we thought there was enough space for a small wardrobe in all the rooms to be fair.....liked your idea of hanging stuff on the rustic black pipe look but would say a wardrobe would benefit more..... perfect location for our stay. The property was very clean on arrival....but when we left and did our clean we could see that the single chair in the lounge had not been pulled out possibly by last people or not been hoovered behind was quite dusty maybe your cleaners should pull the furniture out when they go in on a change over day??? The large lounge curtains in back was coming unclipped so a couple of times I did reup them back quite fidely to do the one on end of curtain seemed like it was broken clip wise was hanging down when we arrived but didn't look very nice....maybe an upgrade curtain wise to match smaller lounge and curtain pole would benefit this room now.....these are our personal feedback the house is absolutely lovely just a couple of minor things let it down. But would definitely stay again every thing was to our taste. The weather was fine on arrival but gradually got worse rain wise.... typical but we still enjoyed our stay we thought the house was lovely and up there with top marks on other properties we have stayed in for sure ....
Stephen
We had a great week at Well Cottage, we have been visiting the Cotswolds at different cottages each year and can state Well Cottage has been the best located, best facilities and overall best experience. Its just less than a 5 minute walk to the centre of the village and also well located when needing to venture out into the Cotswold area. We would certainly recommend Well Cottage and would look to visit again sometime in the future.
Lesley
Excellent property, would certainly recommend it to any group who want a ... Excellent property, would certainly recommend it to any group who want a luxurious, comfortable stay, however, you should warn people how steep the stairs are and with only a partial banister sunk in the wall on one side, myself & my husband had to leave early as he could not manage the stairs, our children & partners were able to stay & continue to enjoy the wonderful house, garden & area
Beverley
While on holiday in BourtonontheWater last year, we walked past Well Cottage and decided it would be ideal for us to stay in this year. We were not disappointed! It is a spacious, beautifullyfurnished, and wellequipped property with a fabulous garden which our pooch loved. The icing on the cake is its perfect location, just two or three minutes walk to the centre of BourtonontheWater. When returning from holiday, we are usually able to think of several ways in which the property we stayed in could be improved, but Well Cottage surpassed our expectations and was absolutely perfect. In fact, we are just about to book again for next year don't want to miss out!
Patrick
The water in all the showers really was dodgy. I know youve put signs round the house to warn of the hot temps but it really didnt make for comfortable washing all week showers were either cold or boiling and with a 5 year old child, was quite dangerous, we had to be very careful. Other than that it was a very lovely property, very clean, comfortable and well appointed, we had a wonderful week. One other thing to note was could do with quite a few more hangers for clothes, ended up with most things living in the suitcases as not any wardrobes and very few hangers on the rails provided
Lovely cottage but spoilt by the incredibly hot water. The shower in the small bathroom was too hot to use and the others went from cold to uncomfortably hot with no in between.
This house is amazing and so convenient to the centre of the village. The bed was really comfortable. Of street parking is a bonus. We didnt use our car while we were there. However, as previously mentioned we had problems with the hot water. The shower temperature couldnt be easily controlled as it was either freezing cold or boiling hot. We didnt use the oven as it was dirty. the lounge to the rear smelt doggy and there were dog hairs on the floor. This is a housekeeping issue and not a reflection of the owners who have provided a lovely home from home.
Alison
The beds were too soft mattresses dipped. However the real issue was the bedrooms were far too light. Needed a blind in each bedroom. Lovely cottage otherwise
Fab accommodation with a brilliant location. Good off road parking, loved the garden So close to the centre of town and just steps from Coop. You have obviously listened to previous comments re mugs and now there are plenty however one or two of the older ones are chipped Overall loved our stay would come again and certainly recommend.
Just back from a week at Well Cottage. Couldnt fault it everything was perfect and it was a great location. The only thing I would say was be careful of the water. Very hot!!
Sheila
Amazing property! Very well equipped and maintained. Great location two minutes walk from centre and activity but nice and peaceful. Beautiful countryside walks. Lovely secure garden perfect for our 4 legged member and a relaxing bbq.
