Malt House, Windrush, Gloucestershire. When you invest 3000 for a weeks holiday in the UK for your family you expect it to be something special. Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth. Gasping for a cup of tea after the long journey only to find kettle in a disgraceful state so I ended up having to descale it before use. My grandchildren wanted a cold drink, but the glassware was filthy so that too required cleaning. A kitchen drawer was full of water and some of the utensils inside were rusty. The washing machine had mould growing around the door evidence yet again that a proper cleaning regime wasnt in place. But worse was still to come. As the first day wore on, we were besieged by thousands of wood lice in both the living areas and bedrooms. We were constantly using the Henry to vacuum them up. The grandchildren were terrified and wouldnt sleep, the lice were crawling out of the loft hatch and falling on to their beds, they ended up sleeping with me and their parents. My son contacted Sykes only to be told it was just nature and that they would disappear when they learned that humans were there. This was rubbish and just a pathetic attempt to placate without doing anything. A holiday should be for rest and relaxation but was anything but. We toughed it out for a few days, vacuuming several times a day but in the end decided to come home early. Sykes were totally disinterested and did nothing to help. Sadly it would seem we may have to legal action unless Sykes respond positively.

One of the finest holidays. I did not leave the house for the first 4 days! Fabulous grounds, and the addition of your own heated pool was magnificent. Best Regards Mike Golding
