Mount View Reviews

Lovely property ,that has everything required in a beautiful quiet setting , with good local restaurants and easy access to main A 46.
A lovely house for our weekend base . Great Location be it on a busy road . Lovely space and clean and well designed bathrooms . Comfortable beds although the pillows werent very and some lumpy which was a shame. Some of the furniture is a little tired with tears and head stains and cobwebs around picture frames and walls, but I guess that adds to the age of the house .curtains need attention as the inside lining kept leaking out paper fibres .one downside no bottle opener but other than that really enjoyed our stay.
Michael
Excellent property, in a great location. Modern facilities and all as described. Only one thought to improve, and put the icing on the cake, would be to have black out blinds in one of the rooms for those of us trying to get a young one off to sleep early! or bring something with you!
Nicely situated property. ..well laid out...minutes away from Broadway, which has an excellent selection of eateries , great pub eaterie just along road ...The Childswickham inn & Brasseire...first class food. plenty of interesting local but quality shops to spend time & money ...great , would recommend area highly, gets very busy at weekends ,so book all meals etc well in advance.
Lovely accommodation, spacious, well equipped, clean, warm and welcoming to guests. Nearest pubrestaurant is 5 minutes away in a car not really a safe walk back in the dark though, due to the speed of the passing traffic. Broadway, walks, lots to do and explore nearby. The only unavoidable slight downside is the noise of the cars passing during the night, especially if it is hot weather and the windows need to be open. I am more than happy to recommend this property and would also be happy to stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality.

We thought the house was really well stocked with kitchen suppliescrockery etc. We really appreciated this. First impressions were great, love the bedrooms and the kitchen especially! My bed was incredibly comfortable smaller double and I slept great. Having two large ensuite rooms was a great bonus lots of privacy and space for everyone. Perfect for groups thanks to the large driveway and ample seating. We used both the inside and outside table throughout our stay. Just loved it. Would definitely recommend.
4.75 stars out of 5! ! Superb in every way. From booking and communications with Sykescottages throughout, the app on the phone for information, to the actual house itself. Lovely and clean on arrival with some lovely touches to make you feel welcome. Beautiful location with easy access to surrounding area. Being really picky to find any thing but just to make it 5 stars out of 5 stars we loved the fact there was milk orange juice biscuits to welcome us would have been lovely if a few tea bags or coffee packets like youd find in a hotel we should ah e thought of it before arriving but after a very long day event before hand would have been so nice to sit and have cuppa before finding nearest shop which wasnt far so not a big issue! Second point which totally accept nothing could be done as we saw collection day was later in week but wheelie bin was full and black sack from previous users next to it wasnt big issue just we felt bad not being able to put our half filled black sack of rubbish anywhere and didnt want to leave it piled up so took it home with us!!! But that is just really small points and definitely highly recommend anyone needing large comfortable home to explore the beautiful area.

Spacious property, well equipped kitchenno scissors comfy beds clean bedding and towels, well situated for days out. However we did have a few problems. the metal sink draining rack was missing one of its feet which caused a pint glass to drop off and whilst I tried to save it from breaking my finger got cut. Downstairs bedside shelf was very loose. We had a problem with one of the sliding doors. I reported these to the property management. Cob webs around under kitchen lights, some hairs in bath, cracked paintwork around door frames, living room curtain track close to ceiling making curtains difficult to close. Clothes storage required in one of the double bedrooms, a shelf would be nice in downstairs shower room to help people with mobility issues. Overall for us this nice property has some housekeeping and maintenance issues when address will become a great holiday let.
Really lovely accommodation Only negative is the photo shows a nice rattan outdoor set with cushions but in reality it is a wooden one which isnt very comfortable Luckily we had deck chairs with us .
Caroline
Upon arrival although the property was as described it had not been cleaned since the last guests had left. After a phone call to the property management they arranged for the cleaning team to attend as soon as possible. From what was a very disappointing start to the trip ended really well with the property owners going above and beyond to rectify the situation. All in all we had a very comfortable and lovely stay at the property.
Spent four wonderful days there
Two large bedrooms with ensuite for two couples, this property was just right for us. We could have invited three more members of the family as there were two further bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs. The downstairs bedroom needs a chest of drawers though. Otherwise, beautiful kitchendinerlounge and large terrace for the great weather we had. Separate sitting room with TV for the evening. Locationwise, very close to Broadway, which is a favourite for lunch and mooching. Not far from all the wellknown places to visit in the Cotswolds. Supermarket about 10 minutes away at the industrial estate in Evesham. Pretty well all boxes ticked.
Wonderful property, extremely comfortable and five star equiped. Would suggest that a grab handle in the downstairs shower would be benificial for elderly folk.
Mount View is a well appointed comfortable home that is extremely well maintained .
Lovely property. Comfy beds. Comfy seating. Well equipped. Very warm. Excellent parking. Great location for popular Cotswolds villages. Bedrooms good sizes but lacking in chest of drawersdressing table in downstairs bedroom. I had to make my own dressing table with nest of tables from lounge and a chair from the dining room. The bedroom is more than big enough to accommodate one where the large wall mirror is. Previous reviewers several months ago highlighted no scissors or smaller tumblers. There are still only wine and pint glasses available and no scissors! Curtains in bedroom very light in colour and material and with two windows light coming in would be an issue once the lighter mornings arrive. The property is set back from the road but road noise is still heard, opening windows on warm nights would be an issue. Although it isn't a very busy road it is busy enough to hear vehicles passing every few minutes once it is 6am onwards. Despite the above comments it wouldn't stop me from staying again as it is a lovely well maintained property.
The property was great with everything you could possibly need for a stay. It was clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped. Worked perfectly for 6 adults and 2 children. The kitchen dining area was a perfect familyparty space. Only one minor thing for us there were no tumbler glasses
Catherine
We had a wonderful stay 7adultsat Mount View. Everything was spotlessly clean with a very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable seating areas and bedrooms. Nice bedding and towels provided. It was lovely and warm, a little too much at times, but saying that it was very mild out. We may have welcomed the warmth in more typical November weather. Only small thing I would recommend is maybe putting a mirror in the 2 smaller bedrooms upstairs. Overall a really good property for a family get together or for exploring the beautiful local area, will hopefully return.

Mount View suited us and two other couples really well for our annual reunion. One of our party has limited mobility, so the ground floor bedroom with ensuite facilities is just what we need. The house is spacious, well equipped and versatile. Just a few little touches would make it 5 star there is no towel rail in the downstairs toilet the radiator heating upstairs was ineffective and there were no instructions on how to boost it.
What we like about it spacey wellmaintained house & premises next to meadows good views ample parking space very wellequipped We rate it a 9 out of 10. What would make it a 10 out of 10 Less noise from the road Curtains runner and stop missing front room Clean up Insects and spiders and webs windows and corners Pillows for outside furniture Sciccors Filter coffee machine we bought one ourselves More clothes hangers Larger bed in upstairs room No squeaking sound boiler had to turn temperature down kept guest awake in that single room Get floor heating in bathrooms working Get towel heaters in bathrooms working More cupboard space in upstairs rooms
All 3 bathrooms grubby cobwebs everywhere double bedroom no were to put clothes ... All 3 bathrooms grubby cobwebs everywhere double bedroom no were to put clothes no wardrobe no dressing table no bedside cabinets single room no wardrobe chipped paint all way up stairs bannister loose place needs a lot of tender loving care applied and a deep clean could be a nice house with some work
We had a lovely holiday in Mountview and were very pleased with the excellent provision of everything in the house. A few adjustments would have made it a little more convenient ie more clothes storage in the double and single bedrooms and a few more teaspoons and tablespoons! It was slightly disappointing to find the two frying pans were in need of a good clean especially as everything else was spotless. However all in all it was a lovely stay and wouldnt hesitate to book again. Thank you.
Very disappointing not to Usual standards of Sykes . We left a day early Found a place to cold Even when the heating was on on the floor heating was not working . We found lots of cobwebs full of flies in most of the rooms one in the skylight Above Breakfast table, Dead flies were falling down as you are eating not very nice . I Ended up having to get the Hoover and try and clean all the cobwebs away your name but a few other things that needs remedies
Mount view was a lovely house situated in lovely countryside. Well equipped and clean and tidy. The living area was very spacious and the sitting room was cosy just right to retire to after dinner in the evening. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious with ample clean bathrooms . The courtyard was lovely with a big table to enjoy the sun . The house had a utility room and down stairs cloak room. We thoroughly enjoyed ou stay in mount view ending our stay with a meal at the local pub most enjoable
Paula Denise
The house is well laid out. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. We'll equipped and comfortable beds. Would stay here again.
Hilary
The house was absolutely beautiful, we had no problems & were very impressed with everything. The house manual was excellent, the only problem we had was the cooker, we could have done with a few more instructions.
Richard
We all enjoyed our stay at the property, having been to the cotswolds before it was a great location to get around everywhere. Was a little disappointed with the state of the bins when we arrived, both were overflowing . We had to squash them down for about 3 days before they were emptied again , but other than that everything was fine. Would stay again.
Ray And Jo Ann And
Very nice rental in good location and very quiet. Large kitchen an asset when staying 4 weeks and appreciated having both a washer and dryer for use during that long stay. The location is close to good food shopping at both Morrisons Supermarket and M&S in Evesham and great butcher shops in Winchcombe and Broadway. Appreciated having the gas fireplace on some rainy and chilly days during our stay. Ray and Jo Ann Castellano, Cape Cod, MA USA
This was our second time this year at Mount View. We chose is as it has a lovely ground floor double room with shower en suite suitable for our elderly father who has mobility problems. One improvement that could easily be made would be the addition of hand rails in the shower and a non slip flooring to the tray. This room is perfect for those with mobility issues but the shower area isnt as safe as it could be. This time we took our own mats and even a shower stool to lessen the chances of any slips. Other than this, the house is ideal for a family gathering and very well equipped whilst also being close to lovely places to visit. Thank you for another nice stay.
Really great time at Mountfield! We noticed a few items that could be improved during our stay and gave feedback and these were sorted within 24 hours. Would highly recommend for anyone visting the Cotswolds.
Elizabeth
Lovely stay at Mount View. Had everything we needed. Very quiet location but close by car to all amenities.
Claire
Extremely well maintained, clean and spacious. A lovely area, quiet with a great space for parking. A very comfortable stay for a relaxing weekend and well recommended.
Michela
The property is very comfortable, well taken care of and located in a beautiful area, from which it is easy to reach many places to visit. We had an issue which was promptly taken care of and the customer assistance was very good. I would recommend this property to anyone for a relaxing time in a beautiful setting.
Graham
This is a really great holiday property. 6 of us, from 4 different households met up and had a great week. It's big enough to fill every bed and not get under each others feet, it was clean, tidy and well appointed. The location was great for everywhere that we wanted to go, with many attractions and pretty Cotswold towns in easy reach.
We spent 6 wonderful days in this house and we can only thank everyone involved in it. First of all thanks to the cleaning company, they did their best to let us check in 2 hours earlier, I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, a very polite gentleman, he shared with us some places to visit and on this occasion we thanks for his hospitality and advice. The house is very well equipped in all respects, the kitchen is spacious and equipped with everything you need to be able to cook for yourself, the rooms are warm and spacious, the floor heating on the ground floor and the heating in the radiators upstairs was very good, the large yard , parking for 4 cars, I have nothing to object to and we thank once again those involved in this wonderful holiday and last but not least we thank the people of sykes cottage for the support and information provided. We wholeheartedly recommend this holiday home and whenever we have the opportunity we will return here and in this wonderful area.
The property itself was good overall, the kitchen white goods and equipment excellent, so why was this Cottage let down by cleanliness, so much so we had to complain on the first opportunity Ref COR 285668 CF Mould on the Water Filter jug in fridge, thick cobwebs around all kitchen skirting, food waste under sofa cushions, downstairs bathroom bin still full top of loo brush dusty and human hair around shower. Subsequent to our initial complaint, Every baking tray contained food deposit, Cobwebs around bedroom headboards, When retrieving a toy from under a sofa a pair of old socks plus a mass of 'dust' deposit, clearly had not been moved for some time. Finally broken glass in bottom of Dishwasher. We have rented many holiday cottages over the last 20 years and have never had cause to complain, just to confirm that we are not being excessively fussy. Since COVID quite rightly more stringent measures have been put in place with regard to cleaning and most cottages have added at least an hour before occupation can be taken. So, we would like some feedback as to exactly what checks are actually carried out by the owners to ensure this extra cleanliness is carried out and what can you say to convince us to hire a Cottage again, which at present we cannot see ever happening?
An absolutely wonderful house. Very comfortable and spacious. High quality furniture and appliances. We could not fault it.
Richard
Mount View is a lovely property, well located in the North Cotswalks within easy distance of many of the popular sites. It is well equipped, spacious and comfortable. A slightly earlier checkin time would be appreciated. The only thing we could say was missing was a BBQ. Thoroughly enjoyed out visit and would happily stay again.
Christine
I will repeat what I wrote to them We have enjoyed staying in your lovely house and would have written in the visitor book if we could have found it. A few things we would have found useful are A butter dish A potato peeler More cutlery especially teaspoons as it meant the dishwasher needed to be used more often Oven gloves we brought tea towels as asked but found them there but no oven gloves really essential or one needs to be told to bring them One other thing there was one room with a double bed but no storage space for clothes I think folk need more warning about that less important for us as a child was in the room but not much good for a married couple Overall it was a lovely house in a great area albeit on rather a noisy road maybe a warning about that too
The house is lovely and we had an enjoyable stay. The issues I had was not having a gate to the back garden as it just didnt feel overly safe, knowing someone could walk round the back easily. One day someone just popped up and came to get the bin which scared us! I would definitely build a gate just to add privacy. Also the cleanliness, there were spiders and cobwebs everywhere. If you look up in the skylight in the kitchen its covered with them and all the cleaners need to do is hoover each time which takes seconds. This let the property down and I was surprised to see so many cobwebs. Overall its a great house thats good value with everything you need, in a good location.
Great house. Facilities very good only two things for improvement. I had my elderly mother with us and in downstairs bedroom ensuite it would be nice to have a handrail in the shower cubicle for the elderly who need help. Also, in the ensuites would be good to have a basket on the wall for putting soapsshower cream etc. Our stay was great the house is in a good location for visiting places. The views from the house are beautiful and it was nice to see the sheep right next door to us. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you.
