Lynton Cottage Reviews

Howard
This property is listed as luxury, but fell short. No loo rolls provided, and not enough towels supplied. Luxury, I would expect these as a minimum plus a welcome pack maybe, so a little disappointed. Being told what isisnt provided salt, pepper, pans, etc would be helpful as it avoids guess work. Not setting the fire, but leaving it full of ash with no kindling or matches. These are the little touches that make a big difference in your perception of the place and the feeling of luxury. Positives, underfloor heating in the kitchen and lots of bathrooms. Negatives, the owners, or whoever prepares the property clearly doesnt want to wow the customer but do the minimum. Yet, this house is priced as luxury but unfortunately did not deliver. Disappointed .

Country charm to the max! Loved our stay here! Property was quaint and charming. We enjoyed our stay but the property was very cold on arrival and took a good 24 hours to warm up, so not ideal. Lots of light bulbs didnt work so we had to go around changing them on arrival, was pitch black in some areas.so not ideal!! Leftover rubbish from previous rentals and no bin bags for us to use either. These small issues can easily be rectified for future rentals.
Lovely property, could do with a through clean throughout. Had all that you need for a short stay, very well equipped. Oven hadnt been cleaned, cobwebs all over, shower could certainly do with some attention, on shower heads and grouting. Extra pillows needed in all bedrooms. Heating was fantastic, we had to turn it down! Overall a beautiful cottage could just do with more attention to detail regards housekeeping.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, theres a decent pub 2 mins away. Some basic items missing, outdoor furniture needs renovation, the upper staircase is precarious, use caution, one of our guests had a nasty fall.
Isabelle
A delightul and comfortable cottage in a beautiful village, with excellent pub dining within a few steps of the front door.

We celebrated my husbands 70 th birthday with family and the cottage was a great place to stay The open plan kitchen lounge was a great space party in . The table was big enough for all of us The room was very bright and the sun flooded through the windows The bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. We would recommend this cottage and also the The Crown pub which is just down the road for meals . Two things we found disappointing was the WiFi kept dropping out and the TVs picture kept breaking up Also we had difficulty in controlling the under floor heating and with the sun streaming through the windows the kitchen was very warm
It was our 50th wedding Anniversary and we looking for a property for a party of six, after looking at photos we decided on Lynton Cottage, once we arrived we were a little disappointed ,photos were very cleverly taken ,front garden overgrown bundles of dead leaves and in need of a good clean up, once inside there were vases of dead flowers, we had to clean the grill of the cooker before it could be used, there were water damaged ceilings in need of painting ,and the back garden with bundles of dead leaves old balloons and furniture in need of a bit of TLC, it was overgrown blocking out light to the rear bedroom this area hadn't been cleaned in a long time, out of the four toilets two we unusable but this was sorted pretty quickly thankyou for that ,overall a nice area to stay but very expensive and in need of a bit of tender loving care.

We stayed at Lynton Cottage over the Easter weekend 2025 and couldnt have been happier with our choice. There were 8 adults and 2 babies in our group, and although we were initially a bit apprehensive about space, we neednt have worried the cottage was incredibly spacious. We never felt on top of one another everyone had their own space, and the communal areas were large enough for us all to relax and enjoy time together comfortably. The photos of the cottage are great, but they dont quite do justice to how beautiful and wellappointed the property really is. Each bedroom was generously sized and equipped with everything we needed. The bathrooms were spotless, and the number of them was just right for our group no queues or waiting around! The outdoor space was private and perfect for enjoying breakfast alfresco or a BBQ in the evening a lovely bonus, especially in good weather. The cottage was also wellsuited for families with young children. A small cot ideal for little ones under two and an IKEA highchair were provided, which made things a lot easier for us. The location is ideal set in a charming little village just a twominute walk from a lovely pub, and only a short drive from the stunning Blenheim Palace. Its a perfect base for exploring the area or simply enjoying a peaceful countryside retreat. The hosts were brilliant in the leadup to our stay, with quick and helpful communication throughout. We would absolutely recommend Lynton Cottage to anyone looking for a special group getaway. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for having us!
The cottage was really beautiful and comfortable. The beds and bed linen were lovely quality. Had all the facilities you needed and the kitchen was well equipped. We would stay again when we are next down in the Cotswolds. The pub at the end of the road was so cosy!

We had a lovely stay at Lynton Cottage. The property is quaint and cosy, with a good size kitchen diner for socialising. The beds were very comfortable with qiality bedding throughout. Parking on the drive is only for a small car, but pavement parking was adequate. We went to the Crown Inn for a meal on the first night, but food was poor. All in all a very enjoyable 4 night stay.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely street, we all felt that the cottage was really homely and cosy and everyone found the beds very comfortable. Will definitely book again
We had a very comfortable stay. The cottage met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. Lovely peaceful village location with a great pub nearby.
Rebecca
The cottage itself was lovely and suited our party well, but unfortunately, several issues detracted from our overall experience. Firstly, the cleanliness left much to be desired. We found dirty toilets, extremely dusty and hairy bedrooms, grease and dust on the fridge door and floor, and even used contact lenses and dirty socks not ours to name a few concerns. Additionally, the top floor bathroom was unusable due to zero water pressure and no hot water in both the bath and shower. The kitchen was also underequipped for a larger party. As a selfcatering cottage with cookery books available, we expected to find adequate cooking equipment. However, there were no larger cooking pots, casserole dishes, or even a measuring jug, which made cooking for our group challenging. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an overflowing general waste bin by the front door, with flies swarming everywhere, which was quite offputting. While we did enjoy our stay overall, the cottage could have been amazing with a few improvements. As it stands, I don't feel it offered good value for money.
We were a large group with both adults and children, so the house was perfect in terms of size. There is plenty of communal space both inside and outside, as well as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. However, after the number of reviews regarding the top floor bathroom, I would expect this would have been resolved by now. Unfortunately this was not the case for our stay, and even worse we had no water whatsoever for the upstairs bathroom. This is real shame, as outside of this, its perfect for a weekend retreat.

Lynton Cottage is a special place, the layout, dcor and furnishing all excellent. The beds are very comfortable. The courtyard was a major advantage as it has the sun all day when its shines, as it did for us!. The pub nearby is a major bonus, and the village is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking for six people. Unfortunately, we also had the troubles reported previously by past occupiers. The shower in the top bathroom only provides hot water and no cold, therefore its unusable. Strange, as the bath next to it seemed to run fine. The shower in the green bathroom had a pitiful flow. We only used the heating once, which was fine, but it would have been nice to have heated towel rails. This is not what I would expect when paying this amount. In conclusion, we would definitely go back again, but would need some assurance the plumbing has been sorted.
Rosalyn
This cottage is beautifully furnished with plenty of shared space for the number of bedroomsoccupants and a well thought through inventory of utensils. The courtyard, with its sunny aspect and multiple seating areas was a favourite. The quiet location but near a fantastic pub with super food choices was also a bonus. The only thing wed have wanted more of is better and more instructions about operating the facilities. Showers and heating seemed to be a particular struggle. As its April and pretty chilly the evenings needed a heating boost in the house. Although we are entirely supportive of prudent use of fuel, it was not straightforward to warm the place up. Similarly, there was insufficient hot water, some showers seemed not to receive hot water or there was difficulty controlling the temperatures on the top floor bathroom, and in the green bathroom, controls were temperamental. Navigating this was not easy during a very short stay ie a bit frustrating but not a huge issue. It would also have been handy to have left some logs for the wood burner. Overall a wonderful place and wed consider returning. Thank you

We had a wonderful start to the New Year staying at Lynton Cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated with all the utilities needed to make our stay comfortable. There's a great local pub and being able to have our dog come with us was a big plus. Also very close to Farmhouse if you want to stay somewhere that feels like an extension but with a cheaper per night price tag.
Christine
Lovely Cottage. Extremely well furnished and comfortable beds.,Intermittent hot water in top floor shower a plumbing malfunction?? More firewood would have been nice to cover the 3 day stay
Callum
Had a great holiday with 8 adults and 2 dogs. Plenty of space and everything you need. Comfy beds and big living areas perfect. Garden for dogs. Exactly what we were after. My only negatives are the central heating and the dishwasher, doesnt seem like were the first guests to have issues either. Boost button on the thermostat didnt always work, the radiators only warm and the house got cold quickly with it being winter. As above, we still loved our time in the cottage and it was a perfect location, maybe just something to keep in mind.
We could have done with some bedside lamps on the top floor, when we used the dishwasher it leaked onto the kitchen floor, we had to use some tea towels to contain the leak There was a lack of socket outlets in the communal areas for charging etc. All in all it was very pleasant cottage and we all enjoyed our stay, thanks
Ginnie
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Lynton cottage and will certainly recommend to our friends and family. The cottage was beautifully appointed with a stunning walled garden and the beds, bedding and linen were divine! Lots of lovely local walks and fabulous nearby pub serving delicious food, highly recommend. We hope to return at some point soon!
